Sometimes known as the 'King of the Mushrooms', the Chaga or Inonotus obliquus fungus has been used traditionally for many years. Though ugly in appearance, the Chaga mushroom is gaining popularity in the Western world for its potential health benefits.
This mushroom, which is technically known as a canker ( a hardened mass of woody tissue) grows on birch trees from which it draws precursor compounds from to create inotodiol, and trametenolic and betulinic acids.
